Welcome! The purpose of this site is to coordinate information and work progress for the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Technical Bands and FIA Management Team, that is, to ensure that all play in harmony.

The objective of chartering these Bands is to create a process that allows FIA technical staff in various field locations to interact constantly - by e-mail, by conference call, and by periodic workshops where they hash out the technical details of maintaining a core FIA program.

The intent is to reduce redundancy and increase quality by promoting coordinated approaches to core program issues. The Bands will identify weaknesses in our approaches to core issues and recommend solutions. An added benefit is that they see how other people are solving similar problems, which should add to the continuous improvement of the overall FIA program at the regional and local level.
